I am looking at purchasing a EPX 303 road bike. While researching the bike I found this website and also that EPX no longer exists. Although the thought of owning a "rare" bike is attractive to me, I am a little hesitant due to the unavailability of parts. My main questions would be concearning that of the head tube set and bottom bracket. Can anyone here give me some advice?
Thanks. |

So was it the one on ebay and were you the high bidder? Yeah, I was watching it. Not sure why. I'm not a road rider. Just interested in all things EPX. |

| Yes, and I was the high bidder. Notified today of the shipment. How good are the frames? |

I just got my Terrashark frames and they look to be of very good quality. The only reason they are not expensive is that the company is not around anymore. I don't think you should need any special parts. If you need any adapters for some reason, let me know. Congratulations on your new bike! |

| I don't know how to repair the Mako Shark. I might be able to figure something out if I could see one in person. |

I've taken some photos of the one on my bike. I just need to get them on here. Hopefully it might give you some ideas. The actual bit that serves as the stop for the hinge could probably be replaced with a block of metal with a rubber washer top and bottom. However it also has 'wings' to fill in the frame gaps on the sides, and another block that fills in the larger gap to the rear where mud would otherwise accumulate. I'll get the photos up shortly. I have had my 303 since 2001 and have had no concerns. Headsets and bottom brackets are standardized, so there should be no replacement issues. In fact, my bike was equipped with 105 throughout. Over time I upgraded to Ultegra and FSA carbon cranks, no prob. I like the novelty of having a bike brand that no one else hase. If you can get the bike and it is in good condition. Go for it!!
