Hello all - my rear fork or swing arm has been makikng noises (squeaks and clicks) and getting louder and now actually wiggles back and forth under torque. Taking the bike down to the frame I found that there are bearings for the axle that the rear fork attaches to. These bearings on my bike have failed and one of them has play in it to the extent that the rear fork moves back and forth laterally. I have not been able to remove the bearings in question and want to know if anyone has knowledge of the process that should be used. Additionally I will have to acquire new bearings once I get the old ones out and then will need to seat the replacements. I'm hoping someone can enlighten me on this repair.
Thanks.

I havnt pulled my swingarm off to service it yet, but im assuming the bearings are sealed type and are pressed in. To remove the old bearings you will need a press to press them out. New bearings will need to be pressed in. A good bicycle repair shop should have equipment and skilled staff to do this. Otherwise i suggest taking it too a good motorcycle mechanic or a machining shop. If you need more advice try finding a local bearing supply shop, they should be able to point you to the right people to get the job done.
It is not because things are hard that we don't try..... It is because we don't try that things are hard.

Probably best to have it done by someone with a press, but if you do some
Googling online, you can find some advice on using simple socket wrenches to act as a tool to both tap out the old bearing and drive in the new. I did that and found I could nearly read the numbers on the old bearing but not all of them. Measured the sizes of the bearing with vernier caliper and looked online for the same thing. Was able to locate replacements for about $7 if I recall correctly. Swing arm works well again. Hope you have as good luck as I.
