Hello all,
I've got a problem and I hope someone can help me out. I just finished reassembling my bike last night after doing a complete tear down to replace swing arm bearings and rear hub problems. Things seemed to go really well and after I was finished I took a short ride. All was cool except for a little jiggle when the rear wheel was raised off the floor. Turns out the bracket that holds the aft end of the shock was not snug. It wasn't the bracket but rather the large countersink screw with hex drive. I notice some bikes have a different style of bracket here. I tightened that screw, which tends to back out regularly. In fact I removed it, put on some locktite and reassembled it. I put a fair amount of torque (unmeasured) on it and the rattle was gone! However, just to be sure I tried to torque it some more. Well, the screw sheared off inside the bracket and of course, the rattle is much worse than before I tightened it.
I need to remove the remaining threaded stud and to find a reaplcement. This is a good bike and has been a great companion so I'd like to ride it a few more years. Anybody know where I can get that countersunk screw?
Thanks

Is it a special screw that you can't get at the hardware store?

Thanks for the response. Turns out I was able to remove the broken off shaft of the screw by cutting a slot in it with a dremel tool and backing it out with a screwdriver.
Then I took the two parts to the hardware store. Surprisingly, to me anyway, I was able to find the part off the shelf.
