Please note: This post was reconstructed after a site restore. If the owner can copy it to a new post I will delete this one. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. It is originally posted by: Sherief Razzaque (and may I add.. what a nice bike!) ========================================= This is my EPX Roadster, a rough-edged prototype engineered in Malaysia, that made its way to me via a Bondi pawnshop and eBay. The subject of my post refers to my obsession with this thing. My goal is to have a rear suspension single speed EPX. The carbon fork is custom prefabrication (completely stress tested) from a client in Germany, which makes these for the super expensive Porsche bikes. It replaced an RST Mozo suspension fork. I ride paved streets only on my commute to work, so it was redundant for me. Not interested in offroad cycling, preferring to play soccer on weekends. The seatpost is a gravitydropper I bought from a garage sale while antiquing in Boston. It serves little purpose other than I know it has a high resale value. The seat adjusts easily, so my wife can hop aboard if she wants to go for a spin, when I move to MA next year. The saddle is an ISM comfort seat, for breeding joyriders. I replaced the pedals with Felt backpedals and got rid of the bar-ends and stock handlebars, replacing the latter with a cheap carbon Peregrine bar. It is a little narrow but that is it. The stem is a cheap Kalloy adjustable, a temporary measure to help calculate how best to create a comfortable, upright riding position. It will be replaced by an Azonic O-Stem I sourced in the US. I want to replace the wheels with 700c ones, like Anthony did in his thread, but mine will be a singlespeed- coaster brake rear wheel and a v-brake ensemble up front. I have to read up on the safety aspects before proceeding, as I have to learn to build my own wheels for maximum satisfaction and achievement. I contemplated getting carbon trispoke wheels, similar to what another gallery member in the US set up, but the cost involved was beyond my willingness to spend. I had wanted a rear trispoke wheel built around a coaster brake hub, and the geometry of that is awkward and exorbitant, being a super-custom order. If I really want to go overboard, carbon cranks, black ones, matte finish. Ooh.... Right now it weighs about 12 kilos, but with the heavy wheels (velocity deep v, light maxxis xenith tyres), lousy disc front brake, sram s7 rear internal geared hub and seatpost replaced (still have the original icon graphite post) I can have it under 10, making me the deadweight. A local tradesman offered to pay to have it shined up and bear his business logo, such is its appeal to the general public, but I like its rough edges and almost total lack of decals. Put simply, this is the only bike I ever want to own, irrespective of the other nice ones I see, like a softride, the superbike or even the rare lotus racer...
